Renovation

Refurbishment of existing houses.
Hinge solutions for renovation.

The expected renovation requirements for doors are clarified in a recent overview of their age: 21 percent of all interior doors are older than 60 and a further 40 percent between 40 and 60 years old. In order to meet current fire and sound protection requirements as well as safety measures for finger protection, above all in buildings for children and in public buildings, doors must be replaced frequently and hardware systems must be technically upgraded. SIMONSWERK has compiled a special programme of hinge systems for this purpose, providing the ideal equipment for such requirements.

Re-equipping
= Later use of heavy-duty doors with modern-day hinge technology on existing steel frames
The later installation of a new door leaf on old existing steel frames repeatedly poses designers and manufacturers new challenges. SIMONSWERK offers means of solving these at low expense. By pressing a blind rivet nut in using the corresponding blind rivet tongs, new hinge receivers are created in existing steel frames. Therefore, the use of the latest hinge technology as retrofitting hinges on new doors is possible whilst simultaneously using the old steel frames for high load capacities of up to 160 kg. SIMONSWERK drilling jig technology enables easy implementation.

The VARIANT Compact hinge system offers a special solution in this context. Replacing the receiver in the door leaf means that existing frames can continue to be used, saving both time and money, and the door element can be fitted with an up-to-date hinge system.

Upgrade
= Correction and stabilisation of hinge systems used for existing residential and glass doors
Later changes such as the reinforcement or replacement of the existing hinge system on timber or glass residential doors frequently pose special challenges. Moreover, SIMONSWERK's upgrade programme provides simple, practical solutions for the many cases where the fitting of a door has to be corrected at a later date. The programme for stabilising the frame connection between the door and hinge for glass doors using corresponding fixing sets offers a further option.
